- What is RenewHound?
-
RenewHound is a free web app that tracks a household’s document renewals —
passports, driver’s licenses, visas, ID cards, vehicle registrations, insurance
policies and warranties — on one visual timeline, and flags each document as its
renewal deadline approaches.
- Is RenewHound free?
-
Yes. RenewHound is completely free — no account, no subscription and no paid tier.
You open the site and start adding documents.
- Is my data private?
-
Yes, by architecture. RenewHound has no backend and no accounts: your documents
live in your browser’s local storage, and if you enable sync they go to a visible
RenewHound folder in your own Google Drive. No RenewHound server ever receives,
stores or processes your data.
- What documents can RenewHound track?
-
Passports, visas and residence permits, driver’s licenses, national ID cards,
vehicle registrations, insurance policies, warranties and certificates — plus
anything else with an expiry date, for every member of your household.
- Does RenewHound work offline?
-
Yes. RenewHound is an installable progressive web app; after your first visit it
loads and works without a connection. Passport scanning downloads its OCR model on
first use, and Google Drive sync needs a connection to sync.
- How does the passport scan work?
-
Photograph the passport’s photo page or upload an existing photo, and RenewHound
reads the machine-readable zone (MRZ) with OCR that runs entirely on your device.
The photo and its details are never uploaded to any server.
